Our Developing Teams

Sport & Education

The foundation realises the importance of sport in Africa. Most European Universities/Colleges do not allow students to represent them in tournaments if they do not have a minimum amount of grading credits. This is not the case in Africa. My African World Foundation has chosen to focus on soccer because it is Africa’s most loved sport. Most people in the rural areas and the townships play it. In the townships children find any small space, whether it’s on the streets or in a backyard, to kick a ball or a makeshift ball. Two stones are the goal posts and the children have loads of fun; it’s not costly for them, but it brings immense joy to the communities.

We have developing programs in Tembisa, Alex and Vosloorus which are extremely popular amongst children and the youth and we would like to increase the intake to expand these programs in the various townships. These soccer developing programs are dedicated to take children and youth off the streets, and it deters them from drinking, crime, drugs, and early pregnancies. The coach’s emphasis to the attendees is the importance of education, which can create further opportunity for them to be placed in a private school, as private schools are always on the look out for talented sports persons.

“There is no greater inspiration than empowering children to help other children.” Gary Graves

Croesus Ladies FC

Croesus Ladies FC is well established and for the past 18 years has been registered with SAFA Johannesburg and have recently received their certificate from SAFA/FIFA of good standing and play in the SASOL League. We are normally ranked either 1st or 2nd in the league.

Most of these team players fall under the category of the most unemployed group in this country. The team pays players taxi/food money after each training session and league games and from that money is how they support themselves and their families. This team consist of ladies from a low income to no income bracket, most of the ladies have not managed to complete their education.

The team is struggling financially and to give you an idea of our hardships our players arrive to games and practice without even eating and must share boots and shin pads but despite the hardships of this team, they have the most amazing moral and spirit. The foundation provides as much assistants as we can with regards to food, salary. accommodation and equipment for our ladies unfortunately, we lack the much-needed resources to help further. Some players travel 2 hours to get to the training sessions and chose to remain with the team as they feel this is their second home.

Some of our ladies are ex National Team players who have been forgotten by their country. In addition, Croesus recruited a few players who had substance abuse problems, but fortunately once they became part of the team, they started to develop an incredibly love for the game and due to the vigorous training and support from players and coaches alike they formed a new outlook on health and fitness and under our care managed to replace their addiction with soccer.

Some members were homeless, and the foundations helped find and fund their accommodation. These girls have blossomed and are still brilliant players. Their expertise and knowledge are used in the developing programs.
Our fitness coach is an ex-player and managed to study fitness at ETA. She has also prepared fitness programs for some of the super sport united FC players (which is a men professional soccer team) and programs for ladies 7 a side rugby team from University of Pretoria.

Glory Women’s Sports Academy – Tembisa

This academy develops Under-11, 13 and 15 girls and is headed by Coach Brother who has his SAFA D, C, and B coaching license. He is a former Croesus Ladies coach and has been coaching for 17 years. He has a talent to identify potential young players and teach them the basic skills.

The gifted young ladies are then placed with Croesus Ladies for further skills development.

We arrange for the Universities that we work with to provide scholarships for the players who are performing well in school. Our players are then able to further their studies and get further soccer experience by playing for the University teams.

Croesus Ladies academy – Vosloorus

This academy is headed by Croesus Ladies’ goalkeeper. We are hoping to grow this academy to include more girls and boys. Currently, our skills and development programs are for U10 and U15 girls.

Polokwane City Rovers

This boys’ team is based in Alex. The head coach, Simon Kubayi, has been coaching for seven years and is presently doing his SAFA coaching license. Simon has been selecting his players from the streets of Soweto and the teams he has formed are registered with Alex Football Federation. Skills and development programs range from U15, U17 and U19.

Socca Dream

Socca Dream is also based in Alex.  Their CEO is an Italian Scout and consults with African and European Clubs. Their Director Dino Ndlovu plays for Zhejiang Greentown FC in China.

The foundation has formed a partnership with Socca Dream as we want to expand our developing academy across Gauteng townships and government school. Unfortunately, funding is required.

By forming this partnership our girls and boys could be scouted by an overseas team. Socca Dream has an affiliation with AC Milan and various other clubs in Europe. Socca dream has organised an affiliation with AC Milan ladies for the foundation.

Socca Dream and the foundation are hoping to start an academy at Northview High School for U7 to U15 girls and boys.
